Aslan Tsipine was shot dead two years ago. The Circassians lost a fine man, and a great academician.

Aslan Tsipine was a respected scientist in Kabardino Balkaria Republic. His PhD thesis was about "The Myth and Epic Tradition of the Circassians." He was the chair of the Department of the Circassian Folklore in Kabardino-Balkaria Humanities Research Institute, and a member of the Circassian International Academy.

Aslan Tsipine was among the most important researchers on the Circassian folklore. He conducted a number of comprehensive scientific studies on the Circassian culture.

Aslan Tsipine's work was not limited to articles published in academic journals and papers presented at scientific conferences. He was extremely innovative and effective in reviving and performing traditional Circassian culture.

Thanks to his unyielding efforts, the Circassians now celebrate the New Year according to the Circassian Calendar on March 22 at the Abkhazia Square in Nalchik, and organize wedding ceremonies as in the ancient times.

Aslan Tsipine was not a politician. He was in love with his people and culture. He was a researcher who says "if you are a Circassian, behave like a Circassian".

Aslan Tsipine was shot dead two years ago. The Circassians lost a fine man, and a great academician.
