Düzce University Offers Abkhazian and Adygean Programs

The President of Düzce University Prof. Dr. Funda Sivrikaya Şerifoğlu, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Humanities Prof. Dr. İlhan Genç and the Director of the School of Foreign Languages Assit. Prof.Dr. Yusuf Şen visited the Northern Caucasian Cultural Association, Düzce Abkhazian Cultural Association and Düzce Crimean Turks Cultural Association.

President Şerifoğlu explained that Düzce University has now 14,000 students and they want to increase the number of students to 25,000 by opening new departments and faculties. The University opened a new department, the Department of Caucasian Languages and Literature. Prof.Dr. Genç said that they plan to offer three programs at the Department of Caucasian Languages and Literature in the following academic year: Abkhazian, Adygean and Georgian languages. Prof.Dr. Genç mentioned that they are in contact with the universities in the Caucasus to get support in recruiting instructors, and developing instructional materials.
