Kaffed Meets Sibel Siber

A delegation of the Federation of Caucasian Associations (Kaffed) and Adygea TV met with Ms. Sibel Siber, the Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, on July 18, 2013. The meeting was held at the Office of the Prime Minister in Nicosia, Northern Cyprus.

Kaffed was represented by Ms Yildiz Sekerci, the member of Kaffed executive board and the Coordinator of the Adygea Working Group, Ms Filiz Celik, Kaffed Secretary for Education and Organization, and Mr Turan Akin, the Adana Coordinator of Kaffed Adygea Working Group.  Adygea TV team included Ms Zamira Tov, Ms Bramkhan Gazieva and Mr Azamat Shedzhashev. Dr Muhittin Tolga Ozsaglam of the Near East University, a leading researcher on the Circassian living in Cyprus, also attended the meeting.

Ms Siber, who is the first female prime minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, stated that she is very pleased to meet with her compatriots from Turkey and the Adygea Republic. She explained how she listened to her grandparents' strories on the great exodus and eventual settlement in Cyprus. Kaffed delegation provided information about the mission and activities of the Federation, and invited Ms Siber to the visit to the Adygea Republic organized by Kaffed in September 3-7. Adygea TV team made an interview with the prime minister as a part of series on influential diaspora Circassians.

After the meeting, the group visited Mr Gunay Cerkez, the president of the Northern Cyprus Chamber of Commerce.
