Kaffed Visits Abkhazia

Delegations of the Federation of the Caucasian Associations in Turkey (Kaffed) and the Federation of Abkhazian Associations (Abhazfed) visited Abkhazia by the invitation of the President of Abkhazia, Raul Hacimba. The Kaffed delegation included Yasar Aslankaya (President), and Erol Taymaz (Vice President) whereas Abhazfed delegation included  Cengiz Koc (President) ve Atanur Aksoy (member of the Executive Board).

During the first meeting held at the President's Office, Mr Hacimba mentioned that Abkhazia faces with a number of problems, but all of these problems can be solved by a unified action, the diaspora in Turkey needs to be unifed and to act jointly. Hacimba stressed the fact that Abkhazia could not be an independent state without the assistance provided by the Northern Caucasian brethren. Kaffed delegation stated that Kaffed was established to create a common organization for Abkhaz, Adygea and other peoples of the Northen Caucasus in Turkey,  Abkhaz and Adygean peoples live together in Turkey, and Kaffed has member organizations in all regions where the Abkhazians and Adygeans live. The Abhazfed delegation mentioned that their organization was established for the protection of the Abkhazian culture, and there is no irresolvable problem between Abkhazfed and Kaffed.

After the meeting, the delegations visited the sites of construction and residences built for the returnees, and were given briefing about the construction works.

The group then met with Mr Slava Chirikba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, and Kan Tania, Deputy Minister. Mr Chirikba said that the Abkhazian and Adygean peoples have very close links, and the institutions in the diaspora can cooperate to achieve their common objectives. The Kaffed and Abhazfed delegations provided some information about their activities.
